You desire to see the prophetic increase in your life, but how? Here are three steps that if practiced, will no doubt turn up the prophetic harvest in your life!
I don’t mean worship in order to get a prophetic word, I mean cultivate worship as your number one passion. Become a worshiper. Worship isn’t an act, it’s who we are. Learn to soak. Several years ago when I first heard the term “soaking” as an activation for the prophetic, it sounded new age to me (I was still recovering from a religious culture)! I wasn’t sure if it was something I should do or not? Do you know what soaking is? It’s meditating on Him. It’s intentionally quieting our minds and rehearsing Him over and over. Soaking is simply coming to Him without an agenda, not even to pray, but just thinking on Him and allowing Him to minister to us.
Psalm 119:15 “I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways”
Psalm 104:34 “May my mediation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord”
Isaiah 26:3 “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts you”
- Let Go of Fear
When you’re so afraid of being wrong that you cannot take a step forward, that is the markings of allowing fear to have more space in your life than freedom. At the very core of this is pride. Yikes, that sounds harsh! Let me put it this way. When our need to be right is greater than our desire for freedom, pride is usually at the center of it. Nobody wants to be wrong but if you’re never wrong, that means you didn’t try and you never have the opportunity to learn and grow from it. I’m not suggesting aiming for anything but excellence in prophetic ministry, but we must realize being wrong doesn’t diminish us, it’s actually very necessary to our growth in the prophetic. It’s essential because it crushes our fear.
- Get A New Mindset
Mind renewal is a HUGE deal when it comes to expanding in the prophetic. The Word speaks to us on the importance of renewing the mind.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
For instance, if your previous mindset was “I’m not prophetic” you need a new mindset! His Word makes it very clear that He desires for you to be prophetic,
“I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification.” 1 Corinthians 14:5 (NKJV)
Why would He tell you to do something that He knew you could not do? That would be crazy. You can be prophetic! You need a mindset change! Our thoughts frame our life. What are you thinking? Are you full of doubts about yourself, negativity, maybe you feel you’re not smart enough, not gifted enough? Renewing the mind is like swiping an Etch-A-Sketch that has been filled with drawing, as you push that lever from one side to the other, it wipes the screen clean. Our minds are full of all the residue of life and if we don’t renew our minds, if we don’t do that daily swipe of the Etch-A-Sketch we’re left with a confusing mess, unable to make out what any of it means. We don’t want to prophesy from this place.
When our minds are full of the TRUTH we will speak from a place of hope and promise. Without a renewed mind we give to people from a place of negativity, confusion, and staleness. Renewing the mind gives us fresh heavenly perspective
Putting these three essentials into practice is a sure way to increase the prophetic flow in your life. Maybe you’re already doing this, if so I hope this is an encouragement to dig your heels in deeper as you go after that lifestyle of a worshiper that daily renews your mind.
